Kyrgyzstan: US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan starts his regional tour

The American diplomat will start his Central Asian tour in Kyrgyzstan. It is expected that he will give further visits to all the rest former USSR republics. Prior to that, Mr. Holbrooke already visited Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The press-service of Kyrgyz foreign affairs Ministry already confirmed this news to Ferghana.Ru, but it refused to share the details of upcoming meetings, referring to the expected official press-release, to be issued by the President’s Secretariat.
It is also expected that US Special Representative will be personally met by Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiev.
According to preliminary information, the visit of the American diplomat is reasoned by Washington’s initiative on running bilateral political consultations with the republic of Central Asia, the topic of which is not officially announced yet.
It has to be mentioned that Kyrgyzstan hosts the center of transit shipment, servicing the military operations of anti-terrorist coalition forces in Afghanistan. The center is the successor of former coalition forces military base in the Manas airport, close to Bishkek, that was launched in December of 2001.
Richard Charles Albert Holbrooke is a famous figure. In 1999 he delivered NATO ultimatum to Slobodan Milosevic before the beginning of bombardment in Yugoslavia. He several times highlighted that the worsening of relations between USA and Russia (during the presidency of Vladimir Putin) was the responsibility of Russian side. In August of 2008 Holbrooke became one of the first Americans that arrived in Georgia to support President Mikhail Saakashvili. At that time Holbrooke declared that Russia provoked Georgia to start military actions and in the future it was going to attack Ukraine.
