Perhaps, motivated by scenario of American movies on highly technological robbery of banks, some creative tricksters in Kazakhstan attempted to rob bank with the help of tunnel and laser facility. With the reference to press-service of Kazakh Interior Ministry KazTAG agency reports the details of investigation.

According to the agency, 32-year old resident of Astana rented deposit box in the local Tsesnabank in May-July of 2008. The Head of municipal police press-service believes that the deposit box was rented in order to define the tunnel direction and final spot for the sap with the use of laser facility.

The tricksters started digging the tunnel on August 8 of 2008. «The ground was transported by Nissan Sunny to the landfills around the city», the police press-secretary informed.

Preliminary estimates indicate that within 15 months the suspect transported 118 cubic meters of ground – this is about 200 tons or around 4000 bags.

The tunnel reached 74 meters of length and 90 centimeters of height. The subway was equipped with special metallic blades and rails, designated for transportation by barrow.

The lams were installed in the tunnel with the interval of 10 meters. The entrance to the subway was located in one of the garages where the police officers found shovels, crows, hatchet and lifting jack.

The suspects attempted to enter the Tsesnabank building in the night of October 17-18. Mars Aldashov, the deputy CEO of Tsesnabank, informed KazTAG that security officers reveal the crack on the floor. This was evident attempt to break in the building.

«They scratched the underground tunnel…It is obvious that they spent few months working on that. They did very careful job and did not even touch electric cables», he noted.

Aldashov is affirmed unsuccessful tricksters had no single chance to enter the building.

«They have not even reached the alarm system. Either way they would not be able to break in», he underlined.
