China: The army conducts long distance mobile deployment training
People’s liberation army of China (PLAC) runs biggest tactical maneuvers, Nezavisimaya gazeta reports.
The number of soldiers, attracted for military training, is relatively insignificant – 50 thousand people: the divisions represent big military command – Shenyang, Lanzhou, Jinan and Guangzhou. The biggest point of the maneuvers, conducted by General Staff, is that these are both ground and air transportation for long distance – to 1600 kilometers, far away from permanent location. Earlier, the troops were usually trained within their region. The new accent is put on military readiness within shortest term.
The maneuvers are scheduled for two month period. High-speed railroad trains and civic aviation aircrafts are going to be used for prompt delivery of soldiers to the "battle" place.
In the opinion of military analysts in PRC, the growth of Chinese military capacity is necessary to protect the interests in unstable environment. First of all, the neighbors of China are increasingly anxious about modernization of Chinese army, counting 2.3 million people. Thus, the Admiral Surish Mehta, the Chairman of Chief of Staff and Naval commander of India, noted that China is building threatening military machine. When PRC reaches this goal it will become stricter in relation to neighbors. According to Fali Khomi Major, the former Air Chief Marshal of India, China is a bigger threat to India than Pakistan.
