Turkmenistan: Romanian President gives his first official visit in the country
On July 21 Romanian President Trayan Besesku is giving his first official visit to Turkmenistan, Turkmenistan: Golden age reports. The President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov gave official visit to Romania a year ago. At that time the presidents confirmed the readiness and mutual intention to develop full-scale cooperation both bilaterally and multilaterally. Therefore, the partnership with Romania, which became plenipotentiary member of European Union, is viewed by Turkmenistan as the development of dialogue with EU; according to Turkmenistan: Golden age, this is one of the foreign policy priorities for Turkmenistan.
It is expected that during the visit of Mr. Besesku the number of interstate agreements will be signed that consider all major industries of the economies in two states and, first of all, oil and gas, transport, agricultural sectors.
Today, there are 18 international documents between Turkmenistan and Romania, singed at interstate, intergovernmental and interagency levels. In the light of these relations the Republic of Romania opened the embassy in Turkmenistan and it also has been developing economic and trade relations year to year.
According to the Turkmen Ministry of economy and trade, as of July 1, 2009 there are eight projects (predominantly in oil and gas industry) with Romanian stake for the total amount of 43.09 million US dollars. There also four enterprises with Romanian capital, including the branches and representative offices of famous Romanian companies.
