The unprecedented accident took place at the state television of Uzbekistan. The observer of Vremya television program Saodat Omonova and correspondent Malokhat Eshonkulov publicly said that television programs were strictly censored, the corruption and localism were flourishing among the management team, while the state funds, allocated for the development of television, were mainly appropriated. In response the management said there was no censorship at the TV channel. The local civil activists and human rights defenders are affirmed that "rebels" are right and they want to help them publicize these issues.

The government of Uzbekistan continues persecuting not only domestic "uncensored" journalists, but also foreign ones, including the reporters from Russia, the strategic partner country. Today’s "victim" is Vladimir Berezovskiy, the personal correspondent of Moscow-based Parlamentskaya gazeta and editor of Vesti.uz website. The alleged reason is the news of Russian information agencies, such as Interfax, ITAR-TASS, RIA Novosti, Regnum, Rosbalt and Ferghana.Ru, reprinted by Vesti.uz.

Ferghana.Ru several time reported the corruption cases in the educational system in Central Asian and Uzbekistan in particular. On August 1 Uzbekistan held entrance exams to higher education institutions. The Expert working group produced the report, dedicated to bribery in the universities of Uzbekistan, where it says about illegal but successful tips for admission and how much the status of "student" costs in Uzbekistan.

The Church of Christ is sealed in Tashkent while 8 of its workers and congregants were imposed charges or administrative arrest of 15 days. The reason of such actions became the statement of Tashkent resident that accused the Church workers of their illegal attempt to turn his 5-year son to Christianity.

The perennial trees are being cut off at the Minor Muslim graveyard in Tashkent. The target is not only massive and shady trees, the commercial timber, but also plane tree, oak and elm. Some sources indicate that the reason of the clearance is the fashion for plane tree parquet among rich folks in Uzbek capital while "the entrepreneurs" provide its supply. The observers are affirmed that such big scale operation can be organized by high ranking people only and, certainly, with the authorization from the head of the state.

Five years ago, on May 13, 2005 the civilians, attending the protest demonstration, were massacred in Andijan. On May 12, the round table in Moscow on "Uzbekistan: Five years after Andijan", dedicated to Andijan events, turned into discussion of general situation in the region: was the Andijan massacre an accident or logical explosion of steam boiler, where the pressure is increasing while the pot-lid is hermetically closed? What is the reaction to turmoil in Central Asia such as Andijan or Kyrgyz events? What has changed in the relations between the states in the region after Andijan? What is the relation of the world community to Uzbekistan, five years after Andijan massacre? Or have the relations between West and big energy producer restarted again and the massacre is forgotten?

In February 2010 28-year old psychologist and the leader of IZIS NGO Maxim Popov was sentenced to 7 years of jail by the Chilanzar district court of Tashkent (Uzbekistan). Paradoxically, this became good news for his friends and colleagues that in the last year have heard nothing about Maxim Popov that has been involved in the campaign against AIDS and drug dependence since 2003. Ferghana.Ru managed to get access to the verdict text and talk to friends and colleagues of Maxim. Technically, Maxim Popov was sentenced for dissemination of educational book about the healthy lifestyle that, allegedly, "undermined the moral values" of Uzbek society, for uncommitted expenses and loss of few t-shirts. He de facto is the victim of wolfish interest of officials to any cash flow, provided by international donors.

Few months ago the clients’ money, deposited in the accounts of the Chichik branch of National foreign economic affairs bank of Uzbekistan, was withdrawn. The clients knew nothing about the fraud. The bank representatives explain the situation by the audit, promise to return money and ask to keep things in secret. They refer to the actions of the previous management team that was fired a while ago. The number of clients that lost their money is unknown while the bank management is suppressing the fact of illegal withdrawal. According to Ferghana.Ru sources, it may be about few hundreds of deceived clients.

The Environmental movement of Uzbekistan continues its campaign against Tajik aluminum plant. Despite the fact that the Tajik aluminum plant has been operating for 35 years only now Uzbekistan is protesting against the plant, through local residents and meetings, not really common for the republic. Sharing environmental concerns of Uzbekistani activists, the Ferghana.Ru experts are also affirmed that ecological argument is convenient and "civilized" form of Tashkent’s official protest against the Tajik government, planning to construct strategic plants and, specifically, the Rogun hydropower plant.

In the Samarqand Oblast of Uzbekistan the women are more and more involved in the crimes, related to drugs and human trafficking. Considering the cases on production of cannabis, recruitment of people for work abroad (while in reality this means sexual or labor slavery) the verdicts of the Samarqand Oblast courts will announce conditional term or fine, if the defender is unwedded mother with little kids.

Chief Doctors of hospitals and clinics in Uzbekistan are not able to freely travel abroad any more. The Healthcare Ministry issued the decree, indicating that the ministry officials and hospital managers must mandatorily get personal permission from Healthcare Minister while upon getting back home they must write the report about the overseas activities. If the healthcare workers are planning to give lectures or presentations they should direct copies to Healthcare Ministry in advance. This is de facto another violation of constitutional right for freedom of movement.

In 2007-2008 in the hospitals of Namangan city and Namangan Oblast only 147 children (20 of them in the district hospitals) were treated with HIV/AIDS contaminated medial equipment. The officials still avoid raising this issue. At the same time the government of Uzbekistan puts all efforts in order to "prevent panics" and not disclose vital information. Ferghana.Ru conducted the independent investigation: as a result, we obtained direct evidences of medical crimes 200-2008 that produced mass HIV infections in the Ferghana valley. This government-produced documentary was never shown to wide audience. Although the criminals were punished the problem of medical infection still remains important.
