Van explosion in the Bostanlyk district and skirmish in the vicinity of the TTF
Witnesses say that a van blew up in the Bostanlyk district near Tashkent when the run-in at the checkpoint in the Kibrai district was progressing. The explosion took place not far from the strategic Charvak dam. Had it been damaged, the so called Charvak Sea might have flooded the capital of Uzbekistan.
No details on the Charvak terrorist act are available, but all roads leading into and out of Tashkent are closed. So are marketplaces throughout the city. Police officers examine all suspicious cars and pedestrians.
No panic is reported but streets are nearly empty. Everybody prefers staying indoors. Coach and electric train runs between cities of the Tashkent region are suspended.
According to the yet unconfirmed reports from an unofficial source in Tashkent, skirmish in the vicinity of the Tashkent Tractor Factory continues [it is noon, Moscow time, now]. Bursts of gunfire can be clearly heard even on a telephone connection.
